About Nat

Family, Netball and Nutrition is my LIFE!

I am a former Australian Diamonds Captain, an Accredited Practicing Dietitian, Leadership & Wellness Guest Speaker, and a new mum. I am passionate about sharing my knowledge and personal experiences to educate, inspire and support others to lead healthy, happy, and connected lives.

This will be a home for netball tips and tricks, sports nutrition advice and practical nutrition information. I hope you enjoy the journey as I navigate my way ‘from court to cot.’

Healthy living is a way of life for me. For as long as I can remember I have loved cooking and eating delicious food that makes me feel healthy and full of energy. Since completing a Bachelor in Nutrition and Dietetics, I have spent the last 8 years building my knowledge base and inspiring others to create healthy balanced lifestyles that they can be proud of too.

Nutrition has also been an integral part of my Netball career. When I was 21-years-old I was playing for the Australian 21’s team and I was told that unless I got stronger I would never take the next step and become a Diamond. I knew that if I wanted to achieve this goal I had to do something about it… So I did! I hit the gym, worked hard on the court and most importantly changed my diet to support my training and get the results I needed. Ultimately, the decision to act enabled me to be selected in the team and eventually have the honor of captaining the Diamond’s – something I am very proud of! In 2010 I completed a Sports Nutrition course, and since then I have worked with netballers of all ages, including the Adelaide Thunderbirds, to help improve their performance and recovery.

I am trying to provide evidence based, general nutrition information on my blog. If you require individualised advice an appointment with an Accredited Practicing Dietitian is vital.

Since having Maddie in January 2016, I have gained a whole new perspective on what it takes to eat well, be active and make good choices as a mum. After spending 30-odd years worrying only about myself, I now prioritise three others before me (yes, that’s right, even our dog Banjo out ranks me) – quite the shock to the system!

Motherhood has been my greatest achievement to date, but the journey to feeling fit, strong and healthy again has had a number of hurdles that were unexpected. Most importantly, I’ve found that I need to make sure to take time out to do the things that I love that make me, me.

So, my aim is to use this blog to share my wellness journey with all you health conscious people out there, so you know that you’re not alone and to help you to be kind to yourself and love the skin you’re in.
